Worship

Worship is central to University Baptist Church. Worship expresses who we are, and all other activities flow out of our corporate experience of worshiping God in and through Jesus Christ.

University Baptist Church is known for its unique blend of worship styles. As Baptists, we gather to sing familiar favorites from the Baptist Hymnal, hear the reading and preaching of the Word of God, issue an invitation to make a public profession of faith, and practice believer's baptism.

However, we also draw from the wider Christian tradition, dating back to the first century. We follow the seasons of the church year (such as Advent and Lent), observe Holy Days (such as Ash Wednesday), and celebrate special occasions.

We use traditional symbols, paraments, colors, ceremonies, litanies, and ordinances to re-enact the story of divine redemption, and to draw the whole person into a meaningful encounter with God.

Each service at University Baptist Church is uniquely and creatively designed to proclaim a particular theme. Without sacrificing warmth or energy, reverence and dignity are maintained. In summary, we are Baptists worshiping in an ecumenical tradition.

We invite you to join one of our Sunday morning classes.  All classes meet from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
9:00 a.m.  Continental Breakfast Fellowship, 1st floor lobby
9:00 a.m.  Chapel Choir, Grades 6-12, Room 205
9:00 a.m.  Genesis Choir, Grades K-5, Room 311
9:00 a.m.  Music Time for Preschooler, Ages 3-5, Room G07
9:30 a.m.  Sunday Bible Study (Senior Adults)
9:45 a.m.  Sunday Bible Study (Preschool through Adults)
11:00 a.m.  Worship
