Special MinistriesOperation In As Much OIAM (Operation In As Much) is UBC's own mission outreach effort.. It is a focused one-day event that seeks to mobilize individuals to engage in hands-on projects for the benefit of those within the Charlottesville area. It usually occurs one Saturday in early Spring and includes such projects as cleaning, painting, trash hauling, and yard work for elderly or disabled neighbors, area camps, and resource agencies such as Kluge Children's Rehab Center and Hospice House. We also deliver flower arrangements and sew baby blankets, host neighborhood cook-outs and assist with Special Olympics. PACEM--People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry We are partnering with other downtown churches in Charlottesville to provide an overflow shelter for the homeless during the winter months. For two weeks each winter our Fellowship Hall is shelter for those needing a place to spend the night when the Salvation Army is full. We provide dinner, a cot to sleep on, and breakfast in the morning. In the evenings, church members have the opportunity to visit with our guests, do their laundry, play games, watch movies, etc.

Christian Social and Justice Ministries
Our Church participates in three additional special ministries:
Love INC. (Love in the Name of Christ) is a Christian organization that matches churches with needs in the community, such as providing furniture or appliances, moving, cleaning, painting, transportation for medical appointments or grocery shopping, financial assistance and education, etc.
AIM (Alliance of Interfaith Ministries) is an ecumenical organization which also provides aid to the less fortunate.
IMPACT is a social justice ministry which seeks to advocate for those in the community which, otherwise, might not have a voice on issues regarding public transportation, affordable housing, dental care, and a wide range of other issues. UBC's Faith and Justice Committee relates closely with IMPACT.
If you are interested in helping in any of these ministries, contact the church office 293-5106.
